Bassingbourn

Bassingbourn, Station 121. This base, located in Cambridgeshire 3.5 miles north
west of Royston, was transferred to the 8th U.S.A.A.F. Command in october
1942. The 91st B.G. stayed here until june 1945. 'The Ragged Irregulars'
commanded by Colonel Stanley Wray moved here from Kimbolton. This was
the base of the B-17 'Memphis Belle'. The 91st B.G. flew 340 missions, losing
197 B-17s.
This add-on was made using FSSC by Derek Leung. The macros were made
using EOD by Matthias BrĀckner. Textures were made using Paint Shop Pro
and the excellent DXTBmp by Martin Wright. The macros from other people
that are used, are the Trees, made by Arno Gerretsen and a Barn made by Doc
George. The Control Tower is an excellent macro made by Ted Miller aka
Crossram. The Signal api macro is by Paul Emsley. I used a macro of Ian
Elliot with a texture by Ralf Triebel for the base of the watertower.

The B-17 macros were made by me using M98toBGL of Trevor de Stigter. The
bare metal version is a conversion from an original plane for FS98 made by Doc
Blake. The drab version is a conversion from an original plane for CFS by
Roger Lowery, repainted by Chuck Lawsen.
The statics are put in a seperate BGL file, making it easy to choose wether you
want them or not. To help reduce the attack on framerates, 4 of these 6 statics
appear from the Normal Setting of the Scenery Density setting onward, 2 only
appear on the Extremely Dense setting.

The afcad is made by Robert Swaim aka Laughing Terror. Marv Howell aka
GZR_Sactargets adjusted the afcad. I adapted the afcad so that no AI plane
parks where a static is situated.

I used a texture by Ralf Triebel to make the H-shaped barracks.

Other macros from other people that are used, are the Airfield Buildings made
by Daniel Hamblin and Gary Burns. You'll need their British Airfield
Buildings v1 to have these airfield buildings show up properly. You can
download this library at:
http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery13.htm

Installation
Place the Bassingbourn folder in the Addon Scenery folder that is located in the
main Flight Simulator 9 folder. In the game go to Settings/Scenery library and
add the airbase. Exit the game and restart.

Don't forger to install the Airfield Buildings made by Daniel Hamblin and Gary
Burns first!

In order to get the vehicles used on this airfield to show up, you must download
and install the vehicles_for_airfields.zip. Download it from here:
http://www.fswarbirds.com/index.php?FileType=fs2k4&T=1&page=downloads
&Category=scenery

Included in the download is a AI traffic BGL file that makes this base come to
life, provided you got the Wings of Power addon pack installed on your
computer. To get this file working, you must do three things. First: place this
BGL file in the Flight Simulator 9/scenery/world/scenery folder. Secondly:
download and install the 91st textures for the Wings of Power B-17 made by
Chuck Lawsen. The file is named WOP_91ST_BG.zip, available at:
http://www.SurClaro.com/ and http://www.SurClaro Thirdly: download and
install Chuck Lawsen's Chow Hound repaint for the Wings of Power B-17,
available at the same sites. This file is named wop_chw2.zip.

The traffic file generates four planes, but these will not be visible at all settings
of the air traffic density. Two planes appear at the 60% setting, the third one at
the 80% setting, and the fourth at the 90% setting.

This add-on is freeware and has to be treated as such. No money should be
asked for it.

This project is dedicated to all the brave young men that contributed to the effort of getting Europe out of the
claws of a dark, perhaps the darkest period in modern history.
